Music reaches the listener in different ways. Some enjoy it more simplistic, some enjoy a bit of each and some enjoy complex. For me good music is good regardless but imo it so happens the more complex JP tunes are the ones that stand out a bit more.

That's cool man! If you take my favorite band I couldn't tell you I liked it because it was more complex than others! I just felt it! Seeing as it's my favorite band though I would care if someone like the singles, the obscurities, the complex or the simple. I'd just be happy they found something from such a great band. You know the band ;) but I'm trying to keep it somewhat on topic. :heheh:

Soot and Stars if you like the bonus track you for sure would like the Halford version of it from Live Resurrection.

I think casual listeners also like songs that are easy to get stuck in your head. Songs like Breaking The Law, LAM are easy to remember. Beyond the Realms of Death, Genocide, etc aren't songs that many would hum on the way to work. It's awesome that a band like Priest can have a number of hits but have deeper cuts that are just as good or better that reward the listener too.

^^^^^I'm no Judas Priest expert but "Point of Entry' Had 3 hits off that album IMO

Heading out to the Highway
Hot Rockin
Troubleshooter

Maybe during the rain of that LP Hot Rockin had more airtime than HOTTH.
I just spun it yesterday.. Great LP!!

I don't remember Troubleshooter getting much airtime, but I may have missed it, I do remember the other two tracks getting quite a bit of airplay both on MTV and on the radio. Then Screaming was released and you'd almost never hear anything from Point of Entry, except in concert

Desert Plains was kinda of a hit right?

Anyway about two-three years ago me and my lady were at a Quiznos having lunch. They were playing poppy stuff that I wasn't being any attention too. I do remember the last song was a Beyonce song that went in one ear and out the other. Suddenly the next song starts playing. I start to notice it but I can't put a finger on what it is. It's definitely not some pop trash. Then it hits me and I notice it's F'ing TROUBLESHOOTER. So me being a huge Priest fan freaks out and hollers "OMG IT'S TROUBLE SHOOTER!!!" I then was on the receiving end of some awkward stairs. Then the song ended and it was back to the pop crap. So so weird yet awesome

The videos they did for the Point of Entry album are brilliant - Heading Out to the Highway is them in a room with a desert and lonesome highway painted on it, plus some stuff at a racing track; Don't Go involves KK walking down a corridor full of rabbits, Glenn running over shadowy ghost people and Rob as an astronaut; and Hot Rockin' features them all in a gym then an on-fire stage. Wonderful :gig All three are on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.

I also don't feel like I could mention all those without a huge shoutout to Breaking the Law. I saw this video and fell in love with them immediately:

SUCH an outstanding and under-appreciated track. Hell of a way to close out a truly epic metal album of the 70's.
