Re: Hawkwind
Been listening to this band for a VERY long time. Love everything from the self titled debut ( 1970 ) right up to LEVITATION ( 1980 ) except Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music. After that it'***** and miss depending on your tastes. The 80's albums are patchy - CHOOSE YOUR MASQUES ( 1982 ) and THE XENON CODEX ( 1988 ) had their moments but pale in the shadow of the 70's hard hitters. They entered an interesting era with ELECTRIC TEEPEE and IT IS THE BUSINESS OF THE FUTURE TO BE DANGEROUS in the early 90's with a trancey/ambient influence creeping in but after that it,s a patchy mess as the 50 million or so ex-band members spent more time in court than on stage. Still an excellent live experience though. Everything between 70-75 is essential listening, after that proceed with caution!!
