Hands down my favorite and I think most influential band to come from the Punk Rock music scene. Formed in London in 1976, the strongest line-up consisted of Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Topper Headon. I was lucky enough to see the band live in 1982, at last I can give Bucky a run for his money.... The Clash had a reputation as "The Thinking Man's Punk Band", unlike many other of their contemporaries they weren't just railing against the system and authority randomly, but had specific causes that they strongly believed in and wrote some great songs to get their message across. That is one reason they had such a far reaching impact on the music world, and their influence is still felt today. It is ironic that at the height of their fame, at the infamous California Jam concert that they themselves had finally succumbed to the celebrity of being rock stars and the trappings of excess that went with it. The band was on it's last legs, Mick Jones wouldn't even rehearse anymore, he was all about being the most important member of the band and the strain between him and Joe Strummer had reached the breaking point.
London Calling is in my Top Ten albums of all time, I like it that much.
The title song.
One of the best albums covers ever
