I really like the new album, I am 3 quarters way through it and it is excellent, it will get better with more listens I am sure. Great work from the band, sounds modern with that classic edge:)

I agree, it is a great album and I'm glad they did it. Something fresh and proud of to be presented live with a mixture with their old classics.

I still haven't changed my opinion of it - I keep coming back to it and have no hint of growing tired of it. It's a really fresh album and well mixed.

One of my favourite tracks is "It'll Be Me", which I often play standalone, when I don't have time to listen to the whole album. I always loved the RnR classics that used to appear in the encores, either in their entirety or as part of a medley - half the fun was trying to work out what they were, from just a few lines (I never did get them all every time). I'm sure that on many occasions it was IG that led the band into some of his favourites and RB & JL were always consummately professional enough to be able to play along.

I think it was on the "House of Blue Light" tour that IG did a couple of verses of "Running Bear" during the medley, which was a particular favourite.

I wouldn't object if Purple did a whole album of rock 'n roll standards, with their own twist!

The question you need to ask LG is.... has anyone bought the vinyl copy of the new album? :heheh:

^^I've seen it, picked it up and looked at it, but there are quite a few other albums ahead of it on my list.

I've got a digital copy so I'll listen to it when I have the time. I'm more likely to buy one of the Old albums that's been reissued on 180 gram vinyl than the new one.

Same way I feel about the album. Never gets boring at all and is something any DP fan should check out.

If you’ve been meaning to collect all of Deep Purple‘s LPs from their peak decade, things just got a whole lot easier for you: This fall, Rhino Records will release the box set ‘Deep Purple: The Complete Albums 1970 – 1976.’

Here’s what you’ll find on the 10-CD set, which includes studio albums and live records, as well as one LP that was technically released in 1969:

‘Deep Purple With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Concerto for Group and Orchestra’ (1969)
‘In Rock’ (1970)
‘Fireball’ (1971)
‘Machine Head’ (1972)
‘Made in Japan’ (1972)
‘Who Do We Think We Are?’ (1973)
‘Burn’ (1974)
‘Stormbringer’ (1974)
‘Come Taste the Band’ (1975)
‘Made in Europe’ (1975)

The set drops on Oct. 8, but if you’re ready to spend the $53.99 purchase price, looks like Amazon is taking pre-orders now.

Rhino does a quality job of most of their releases, would love to see the same package released on new 180 gram vinyl, Burn and Machine Head are both available but I haven't seen any of the others.
