What is wrong with producers/engineers these days...:wtf:

You spend all that time and energy writing, rehearsing, perfecting your songs, rent a studio and then record your music. It's not rocket science and I am still GOBSMACKED that they can't make a record sound as good as "Abbey Road". The lot of them should be sent back to school.

As far as the new Tate album...that song is alright but doesn't excite me that much. I'll listen to the new album when it comes out before closing the door though.

@ Rattlesnake, Operation Mindcrime is a grower the more I listened to it the more I liked it.

I don't get this. Is "Tate's Queensryche" going to be known as Queensryche while the rest of the band is also going by the name Queensryche?

Legally speaking, that doesn't seem possible. *shrug*

The Cold tune Riff?? It's not REAL bad or anything. I thought it was closer to what fans would have wanted from them before all this break up mess.
The tune wasn't horrible like their last album but eh felt really generic and just didn't hit with me. As said it wasn't on the level of the last album QR did but it just didn't do much for me. :)

Mindcrime I admit did take a couple of listens to get into it, second one did as well.

^^What I love about a record that takes time to appreciate is the moment it "clicks" for you, when you realize that it's really really good and can go back to it over and over again as the decades pass...at least for dinosaurs like me that is.:gg:

I still think Lynch is right too, the big fight over who exactly is Queensryche is scheduled a few months from now.

Absolutely. When an album just clicks is the best moment for sure. Better though is if it clicks on the first listen like Rage for Order and The Warning did for me. :grinthumb

They go to court over the name in November I think?? Until then it's up for grabs.

Geoff Tate’s Queensryche Releases First Single ‘Cold’

SOURCE LINK

As seen above, Geoff Tate’s Queensryche has released the first single (‘Cold’) from their upcoming album, ‘Frequency Unknown’, due April 23.

And by all accounts, it looks as though Tate’s version of the band will draw first blood in getting a new Queensryche record to market. The “other” Queensryche, led by vocalist Todd La Torre released their first single ‘Redemption’ in February. La Torre’s Queensryche will release their record in June.

Tate hasn’t entirely had the easiest go in getting his version of Queensryche off the ground. Last week, we reported that fan complaints around the sound of the upcoming record prompted Tate’s label to hire producer Billy Sherwood to remix the album. But before Sherwood could even twiddle one knob on a studio console, he bailed from the project in favor of working with William Shatner. We kid you not.

‘Frequency Unknown’ will boasting guest appearances from former Megadeth member Chris Poland, former Slayer and Testament drummer Paul Bostaph as well as Judas Priest founding member K.K. Downing among others.

First listen for me and I like what I hear :grinthumb

If Tate's band gets the name than for me the ride ended at American Soldier album-wise for me.

Having heard samples of each song on the Tate QR album I really hope the other band gets the right to the name because this album to me is just really horrible to listen to. On the same level to me as Dedicated to Chaos.

Tateryche issued a statement today saying that anyone that bought the FU album and wasn't happy with the sound of it could have the remixed CD for free. I didn't know whether to laugh or feel sympathetic .. I ended up laughing.:oyea:
