DSOTM will always be the best album PF ever released, it's in the top 5 recordings of all time, at least in my Hall of Fame that's how it stands.:grinthumb

It has been overplayed, same as so many great albums but I am not tired of it, and my new vinyl sounds so good it sends shivers down my back when I listen to it all over again.

There is nothing wrong with this stance, and I will say this, there is not much space between my top 5 Pink Floyd Albums, they are all really close. But as of right now Wish you were Here and Animals probably stand out from the pack just by a hair. Meddle, Dark Side and Piper are all pretty close.

I saw a post where you said one of your friends argue for Piper being the best Floyd album and you argue Dark Side... I hope you are not implying that you do not like Piper at all Grendl!!

Nice to meet you Rift Raft! Well hear are my Pink Floyd Rankings as of today.

1) Wish You Were Here
2) Animals
3) Meddle
4) Dark Side of the Moon
5) Piper at The Gates of Dawn
6) Atom Heart Mother
7) The Wall
8) Saucerful of Secrets
9) Final Cut
10) Ummagumma

The others I do not feel comfortable in rating as I have not listened to them enough. All I can say is I did attempt to listen to More twice (years apart) and did not enjoy it either time.

Interesting and cool list especially the mention of Ummagumma. :)

Ill go through my current list. My favourites that is. Top 5.

1. Wish You Were Here
2. Animals
3. Atom Heart Mother
4. Meddle
5. Division Bell

Piper like pretty much all the 60s stuff for some its probably either a grower or just not their cup of tea. I like the albums now of the 60s but have to admit first listen was a bit strange. lol

I don't dislike Piper Gigispeed, but I do get tired of certain PF fans saying it's the greatest album they ever did, to me it literally pales beside their later work.

I think all their 60s albums are nowhere near striking distance of the 1970s gems.

Yeppers that's my take as well.

One thing that makes die hard Barrett era Floyd fans crazy is when I rate "Momentary..." and the "Division Bell" ahead of Piper, they would Stab me if I was within reach.:oyea:

^ not sure I would stab you but might have to throw a beer at you
:)

I like division bell and piper isn't my favorite pf album.
However Interstellar drive and astronomy domine are the true beginning of space rock and for that alone piper is a top album.

I wouldn't stab you either LG.
I'd just have to sit you down and have a listening session with a few choice live recordings from 1969, 1970 and 1971, so you could hear the error of your ways.
