I don't think it's unrealistic for fans to expect something special from Sabbath DKW, when was the last time this line-up recorded an album?(Without Ward of course)

The more important thing to me is Tony Iommi's recovery from cancer, but if they've gone ahead and booked dates down under he must be feeling a lot better.

I never said it wouldn't or shouldn't be special ....what all the internet drama queens will probably say about "it" and what it really is are usually two different things :D

I understand people being sceptical about it. 33 years since the last one with Ozzy and that was a poor album by Sabbath standards at the time in my opinion anyway. Won't take much to trump that album. Unlike the Van Halen one though I am actually excited about this album, even if I end up disappointed by it, its Sabbath of all bands.

What I'm saying is people who like to bag on band reunions just to talk smack,
or prejudging albums before they give them a GOOD listening to...pissed off Bill's not in the fold etc... these people are going to just write it off from jump street, many not admitting it have already written it off before hearing one note.

That and others will no doubt want this album to do for them what Sabbath did for them in childhood/their teens..unrealistic due to fans being more jaded in later years. This type of thing goes on with every band and the bigger they are the more a certain type want to see them fall.

Heaven and Hell ~ The Devil You Know is awesome. I have faith in Geezer and Tony...Ozzy's influence I am wondering about a bit after Scream but will refrain from judgement. Just saying there is already a lot of nonsense going on and no one has heard anything at all from it at this point.

I mean it's not like they are going to do an album full of sappy pop ballads.
I expect a good effort but will listen to it unbiased when I have that opportunity. Others I'm not so sure of so I remain deaf to the drone of internet tongue wagging :D

I also am not going to pre judge this album. Sabbath is just one of those bands I have faith in to make something good.

If it ends up not being as GREAT as their 70's music...I'm still 99.9 % sure it's going to listenable and worth getting.

Pre judging the album goes both ways though, I refuse to assume it will be awesome nor will I assume it to be bad. Ill listen to it and form my opinion from there. :)

Van Halen set the bar IMO. Aerosmith looks like it's gonna fall short. ZZ Top got there though. Let's see what Sabbath can do...

I think Van Halen did a good job with a new album. KISS did very well again too (2 for 2). I agree with Riff Raff that one can't assume it to be great either.

One doesn't know until it comes out. I just have a pretty good gut feeling that it's gonna be listenable. I'm not too worried about this one. :heheh: :grinthumb

Spoken like a true connoisseur Rattlehead.:D

My biggest concern with the new Sabbath album is Ozzy.

As far as the "internet tongue wagging" DWK alluded to that is par for the course whenever a legendary old band does release a new album.

I will keep an open mind and listen to the new release at least 3 times before forming any opinion.

"Disclaimer"....however if Axl releases "Chinese Democracy Mark II" you can count me out, life is Too short to waste on complete rubbish.:cheers2

lol That was my initial concern about the lengthy gap between albums. But I refuse to put Sabbath and Axl Rose in the same league. No comparison.
