Ever since they reunited this summer, we’ve known that Black Sabbath have also been working on 15 new songs for an upcoming album. Today we learned that the band plans to release the album next spring.

‘Black Sabbath is currently recording their first new studio album in more than 33 years, helmed by seven-time Grammy winning producer, Rick Rubin,” read a post on their website. “The album is due for release in April 2013.”

The album’s release will coincide with the band’s first tour of Australia in nearly 40 years. They will play four dates between Apr. 25 and May 4, with cities and venues listed below. Pre-sale for tickets will begin Friday, Nov. 2 at 9:00AM, with sale to the general public beginning Thursday, Nov. 8 at noon. Full details can be found at Live Nation Australia’s website.

But people looking to travel for the shows should take into account that all times listed for ticket sales are local. Those in America wanting the best seats will have to purchase their tickets late at night, which, when you think about it, is kind of fitting.

Exciting. Let's hope they've made one for the true fans rather than the sales charts.

REALLY looking forward to this!! I hope it has a nice mix of heavies, fast numbers, slower creepy numbers, an acoustic number (like Laguna Sunrise or somethin' would be great)....an epic ending like their early albums had.

Either way....I'm getting this and I don't have to hear it first. :grinthumb

Hopefully Iommi makes a complete recovery, announcing the album release and a mini-tour of Aus is a good sign.

I am not going to knock MP out of the way to get a copy though...I will check it out first and it's still ridiculous that Ward's "people" and Sabbath's "people" botched what should have been one last Black Sabbath tour for the ages.:wtf:

I'll be looking forward to the new album. Also I'm afraid it could be a hit or miss album. They've done their share of those. We'll see.

The backlash is going to big regardless of what they put out w/ so many drama queens out there in "popville". So long they put out album that I like and can respect to hell w/everyone's two cents on whether or not it lives up to their 70's output.....

I was hoping the album would be released sooner then April..looking forward to it. If it's half as good as the last Heaven and Hell it will be awesome.

I don't think it's unrealistic for fans to expect something special from Sabbath DKW, when was the last time this line-up recorded an album?(Without Ward of course)

The more important thing to me is Tony Iommi's recovery from cancer, but if they've gone ahead and booked dates down under he must be feeling a lot better.

Great news. Looking forward to it. 33 years must be the longest gap between two studio album for any band. Its gonna be huge!!! Personally, I don't care if their materials are below par. You've got to give credit to the band and Iommi being together and recording some new material. Plus, they aren't 28 any longer....Whatever comes out will be good enough I am sure. Looking forward to it!!!
