That seems like a cool release, nwobhm. How is it?

And since this thread just got bumped, just a few days ago was the 35th anniversary of Marc's death. Here's one of my favorite songs by T.Rex and one that people usually don't hear, "Left Hand Luke and The Beggar Boys" the closing track to "Tanx".

I've been listening to Electric Warrior a lot this year, it is without doubt one of the best albums of the 70's. I wish Bolan had more guidance and was more savvy when it came to his image and the way he went about it with the press. The media crucified him at the time and unjustly so, forcing him into a musical realm he was decidedly uncomfortable with. I didn't like the funky stuff at all, he should never have lost Visconti as producer, ego and a poor choice of lifestyle got in the way of his career. By 1977 he was a fitness geek and trimmed down and looked good, he even listened to his band members ideas and the result was evident on the Dandy album. On Electric Warrior he is in his rock n' roll element doing what he does best in his own Chuck Berry version of T Rex way. His influence is mega and he should be recognised as such much more than he is. Marc Bolan was the ultimate rock star, he looked good, he sounded good, he was good! Anyone who writes "you're a silver studded sabre toothed dream" is alright by me.

Well as I recalled reading Marc was getting called "washed up" less than three years into his fame so I think it's understandable for how hard he took it. And while "Electric Warrior" is by far T. Rex's most popular album I actually listen to to "The Slider" and "Tanx" more often.

And that sounds cool, nwobhm. How's the quality of it? Because all of the demo's, live recordings, bootlegs, and whatnot I've heard from T. Rex are all very poorly recorded and while the music is there I just don't like listening to things that sound so far away and fuzzy.

And I've never heard "Sing Me A Song" before. Where's it from? It's very lush so I assume it was recorded somewhere during the "Zinc Alloy..." era or later, ay?

its a song that should have been much bigger that what it actually was

the cd spaceball, quality is ok certainly better than most bootlegs

Had it been released in the right time period (the early 70's) I'm sure "Sing Me A Song" could have been a hit. At the end of Marc's career in the late 70's it was about punk and disco. Something lush and slow like that had no business in either scene.
