Similar to my favorite Power Ballad thread, only the country version. Yeah yeah, I know ... there are a TON of ballads in country music. However, let's share the good ones, our favorite ones, the ones that make you stop and think. The ones that bring you back to a certain time in your past. Whether they be about love, death, heartbreak or just the old school "I ain't been so lonesome since muh horse died" type of stuff. :D

I'll start off with a track that's always been a bit of a tear jerker for me:

George Strait - I Cross My Heart

John Michael Montgomery - I Swear

I've always liked this version much more than the poppy boy-band version from the early/mid 90's. John does a great job on this one in concert too. Real emotional.

I have to admit, I do like this version. I play DJ for weddings, stag & does, etc and I have played this version many, many times....

"I Cross My Heart"... lovely song. Been so long since I've seen Pure Country but the final scene where he sings it is really good. :)

As far as JMM goes, he has some pretty timeless country ballads. Man, so many songs I can post here. Country music was as much a part of my childhood as pop music was. Here's another good JMM ballad...
