I read some list, billboard or something, a year or so ago and Led Zeppelin was in the top five. I thought that was kind of pushing it compared to those other bands you've listed Cosmic, of whom I agree are top sellers. It doesn't matter to me if Zep sells every day or once a year. They'll always be top shelf in my book!:grinthumb

Well that's because Billboard is only for the United States market. Yes, Zep are in the top five for the U.S. (where Garth Brooks is number 2) but not worldwide.

Well in your book is your opinion and I can respect that. I'm just listing the facts right now on sales since those are often times a good chunk of what makes a group "great" in the public's eyes. Though this whole thread is almost entirely based on opinions anyway so it really doesn't matter what anyone says. :heheh:

The greatest rock band for me from the 70's would have to be:

But if you are asking who was the BEST rock band based on statistics....

then it has to be the almighty Zepp.

Pink Floyd by a long shot. They have so many great albums in the seventies and beyond. I think that Dark Side of the Moon has to be one of the best albums ever made by anyone.

Billy Joel knows.
Do you see what a gift music has given to us? Everyone can have a favorite, but it doesn't have to be the same as anyone else's. No need to argue or say your is better than mine and is better than theirs. Everyone has a chnace to tout their taste. The 70's are loaded with goodies.

My top 5:

1. The Rolling Stones
2. Led Zeppein
3. Queen
4. Kiss
5. Aerosmith

That list seems fair, although, I would put Led Zeppelin as #1 with Aerosmith behind them in the #2 slot. :)
