^I have to add then too that when the band toured in the late 1970's [1977-1978 to be exact] they also aired their gigs via FM radio. I should know as I managed to snag five first gen cassette recordings off that tour from my tape trading daze.

I loved the energy of the shows...totally capturing that 70's vibe. The opening strains of the "Theme From Psycho"...Whitford and Perry's guitars left and right respectively...Tyler's raspy voice in full throat...and those damn firecrackers!

Lastly..."Live! Bootleg" is in my top five concert albums of all time. Still have mine three decades later including that poster.

I remember the liner notes said something along the lines "the quality wasn't the best, but they couldn't resist beating the bootleggers."

I also remember the 'Come Together' cover being recorded at 'The Wherehouse'

Weird, the stuff you haven't thought of in years, but remember it right away.

I had Get Your Wings on 8 track. Always had to have a book of matches around. High-tech.

Yep...the nostalgia of vinyl and jackets. Liner notes...pictures without having to squint in checking them out.

For "Live! Bootleg" I read that Tyler instructed the band's road crew to record the FM broadcasts rather than professionally record the shows as they were performing. To his and the band's ears, it gave it that edge and less of a slick, commercial feel to it. Really dig hearing bits like this.

Eight track? I borrowed a friend's Styx and Cheap Trick Dream Police once. Really forgettable experience all around.

The only albums I own are their self-titled, Get Your Wings, and Toys in the Attic. They have had decent singles here and there but they are one of those bands that I prefer being stuck in the past with rather then their 80s and onward music. "Pump" from 1989 was okay, but as far as a thorough album rating of each album I haven't listed; it's not consistent with timeless hits or simply songs you can listen to time and time again.

I love 70's Aerosmith, they are in my top 10 for sure. 80's Aerosmith not so much. There are good ideas in there but you can almost hear where the Aerosmith songwriting stops and the external writers take over within the songs. Usually there verses are pretty interesting then it just goes to over the top choruses.

I wish they would write one more album together with just the band and I genuinely thought when I heard they were going into the studio with Brendan O'Brien, that he would put them back into that mentality (as he does seem to be great at bringing good material out of the bands he works with). That didn't seem to come to anything.

Now I hear they're back with Jack Douglas which in itself is promising but I'm not letting myself get too excited. I don't hate Aerosmith for their later career decisions because they can still bring it live and who's to say they wouldn't make the same decisions if they were in that situation. The only thing that's a shame is that they are dismissed by a lot of younger rock fans as being hair metal because all they know is their 80's/90's output. Most are shocked to hear they were even around in the 70's. Sad.

I am really looking forward to the new album. I know they are using a song from some of their '90's outtakes on the new album, "Legendary Child". Which is not going back to the old, old '70's Aero (which is also my favorite Aero)

But I am fairly happy with how Aerosmith has evolved over their career.

I wonder if there are any good Aerosmith biographies I can buy. Joe Perry made an appearance on AI the other night for Steven's upcoming birthday and it had me wondering a bit about the relationship between those two.

It's Steven Tyler's birthday! 64 years old, and I'd still be his groupie and I know a certain lady in red here who feels the same.
