 Says January 31, 2012 on my future downloads Soots. I don't know.

Or, you know... you could use thing wonderful thing called iTunes instead of driving two hours out of your way to get it. ;)

I'd rather drive. The road trip and music digging is the more fulfilling experience. Plus I love opening the hard copy up and having it in my hands! :grinthumb

Incubus-Friends and Lovers
incubus_-_if_not_now_when-300x300.jpg

I'm an empty well
Runnin' out of black gold
It's high time I pulled over
And walked around a while

I've seen that porcelain shell
Your exoskeleton
And I feel like we'd walk well together

Because in the end, we are friends and lovers.

If asked of me I would
Gobble them to bits
The things that wall us off from
Where we belong
What's wrong with you is good
For what's wrong with me
And I think maybe we should stick together.

Because in the end, we are friends and lovers
We are friends and lovers.

Abandon all the bones
We've got to pick
They'll only weigh us down and
We're better than that
If they all throw stones
Start a collection
Of everything we're not
And wont be, because

You should never have to defend
Being friends and lovers.
Be friends and lovers.
Be friends and lovers.

Incubus is a hit and miss band with me. I never really got into their scritchy scratchy early stuff but dug their space rock stuff like "Stellar" on "Make Yourself". I was underwhelmed by their followup album "Morning View". It sounded like they were going for a more mellow out trippy vibe for college stoners. I was bored. The next album "A Crow Left of the Murder" was heavier and I liked it but "Light Grenades' didn't even make a blip on my radar. Their 2011 album is the most I've liked an Incubus album as a whole and a lot of that is due to it's variety. It oddly enough starts off with a ballad but segs into some poppy R&B tunes and has it's more aggressive moments with songs like "Switchblade". It was the R&B influence I enjoyed and it was between "Promises, Promises" and "Friends and Lovers" on my list. I really liked how this showcased Brandon's singing. The melody and vocal is very smooth here and has a simple flow to it that keeps me entranced and at ease.

I Saw The Devil
DEVIL_R02_22.jpg

This was a great surprise flick for the year. I love foreign horror but I put this one off (2 hour + running length) after seeing it rated high and on a ton of best of list. Towards the end of the year I finally watched it and really dug it. First off let's say that 2 hour running length was effortless. This film moved at a great pace and always held my attention. I've seen plenty of revenge flicks but never like this. Plus, the momentum shifts in this aren't typical either. It's not like "Bad guy does evil, ****s with wrong person, gets tortured themselves and killed". It becomes a cat and mouse game between original psychotic and vengeful psychotic. When a psychopath kills an agents bride to be the agent obtains the killers identity and shows him what fear is. Whenever the killer, unknowingly bugged at this point, is in position to strike again, the agent shows up and wounds him in painstaking ways and releases the prey for another day. Things shift and things escalate for an awesome suspense movie and highlight of my movie watching this year! :cheers2

Downloads just aren't the same are they?! Plus I never feel like I properly own an album unless I have the hard copy. The only time I don't mind paying for a download is for singles or if the hard copy of the album just isn't available to buy in UK.

I Saw The Devil - this looks good! I love a revenge movie and I see it's directed by Kim Jee-Woon - I loved A Tale of Two Sisters :grinthumb

I never saw "A Tale of Two Sisters" but had it recommended to me prior. Didn't know the guy directed anything else of note. I'll have to check that movie out now! :cheers2

I recommend it, it has some real creepy moments in it. I saw the US remake The Uninvited and whilst I enjoyed it enough, it wasn't a patch on the original.

I like that attitude :D
Physical copies are always better in my experience. I hate digital downloads with a passion.
Oh and nice write ups in this thread, have yet to read them all but I enjoy reading your write ups :)

Thank you Riff Raff! I'll do digital when it comes to some things. Some artist I love had exclusive EPs on their that had great music. I just got a gift card for Christmas and had no trouble finding ways to use it. I just know what I prefer! :)

Thank you very much for the compliments. Out of the bands I covered I know you like "Within Temptation" but I'm guessing you'd also like While Heaven Wept! :cheers2

I am open to trying different bands so I will give While Heaven Wept a shot. ( I hadn't heard their stuff as such yet):D
I adore Within Temptation, The Unforgiving was just a masterpiece. Glad you enjoyed it. :D
