Re: Wishbone Ash

^^ Agreed I reckon Andy Powell can hold his own with the best, I read that in the early days he impressed Ritchie Blackmore as they traded licks so much so that Ritchie introduced him to producer Derek Lawrence.

It took awhile but finally got a copy of Argus. It's now in heavy rotation. Excellent album. Great guitar work. Definitely be getting some more Wishbone Ash in the future.:grinthumb

Hey Nololob,

Wishbone Ash headlined the 3rd night at Reading 1975.
Laurie Wisefield was the second guitar.
Great fireworks at the end of the show.

Just Testing was real great but underrated album, pity:mad

I saw Martin Turner's Wishbone at High Voltage festival in London, UK in July 2010.
Martin is a terrific singer and bass player but his guitar duo were far from approaching Andy Powell's class.
Ted Turner joined them on stage for the superior "Why Don't We?" track of their 1987 reunion of original members.
That was the only remarkable moment.

I have personal acquaintance of Andy Powell (private interviews etc.).
Despite of frequent personnel changes along the years in Wishbone Ash, their high quality never diminished.
Thanks to Andy who is the best proof of leadership in a rock band.

^ I know, I've been searching for a bootleg of their performance at Reading Festival, sadly I haven't found any.

Here's Wishbone Ash performing "Eyes Wide Open" from the Clan Destiny album. This gig was at The Winding Wheel in my home town Chesterfield.

:cheers2
