38-Special-(band)-picture.jpeg

This band formed in 1974 by Donnie Van Zant, brother of lead singer for Skynyrd, Ronnie Van Zant. They have a sound very similar to Skynyrd but combining more arena rock into their music which is evidenced by their sucess in the 80's.

Official Website

Albums:

38 Special (1977)
Special Delivery (1978)
Rockin' into the Night (1980)
Wild-Eyed Southern Boys (1981)
Special Forces (1982)
Tour de Force (1984)
Strength in Numbers (1986)
Rock & Roll Strategy (1988)
Bone Against Steel (1991)
Resolution (1997)
A Wild-Eyed Christmas Night (2001)
Drivetrain (2004)

I would suggest getting 4 of their albums: Rockin' Into the Night, Wild Eyed Southern Boys, Special Forces, and Tour de Force. These are all excellent albums.

Re: .38 Special

Wild Eyed Southern Boys would be my pick, but I only have a compilation of their greatest hits right now. I never really got into this band as much as Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Love them!!!!

Always have.

If you look around (I checked YT, not there)...you can find a live concert recording of 38 and Styx....at the end they team up both bands...it's pretty neat.

Re: .38 Special

I do have a couple of Blackfoot albums,,,but not all of them yet Magic,,,I don't know what it was about 38 Special, but they never got me revved up like some other southern rockers did. Still not a bad band by any means.:D
