The early 80's any Hard/Heavy/Blues rock or NWOBHM I could lay my hands on (including my older brothers records) old juke box singles etc .. by the mid to late 80's I had started a bit of a Purer Blues collection going as well. Oh and one or two classic prog albums.

Back then we only had one FM station, and it had to cover everything from The Beatles to Ozzy. Was pretty good actually, I heard a ton of great music, especially in 1983-84..if you were a hard rock fan at that time there was so much good stuff it was hard to keep up. In the early 80s I spent my allowance (Hey, I was a kid) buying albums like 1984, Rebel Yell, Pyromania, Number of the Beast, etc. By 1988 I was wondering what the deal was with the synth explosion and why all these hard rock/metal bands were going so soft.

By far my favorite metal band from the 80s was RATT..I used to love that band. At some point I just became tired of them and now I can't even stand to hear a single song..very weird.

As a child of the 70's I grew up listening to hard rock albums, FM radio and AM radio. Those 3 mediums pretty much covered all of the 70's music. In February 1980 I was 12 and I met a dude who had Judas Preist, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Triumph, and other heavy rock/metal. I continued in this dierction and started seeing concerts of bands like that. In 1983 I was introduced to Metallica, Slayer, and Metal Blade Records Compilations so I started going the thrash metal direction, leaving rock in the dust. By '87 I was buying CD's of the thrash metal movement up until about 1993, when metal and rock were taken over by grunge and alternative and I wanted no part of it.
Now I'm into alot of the radio rock from the 80's as well as rock and metal from the 80's. Love the 80's.
