Re: The Official Coldplay Thread

I really like Chris Martin's voice and have listened to a lot of Coldplay over the last couple of years. My favourite song is Fix You.

Forgot to mention that I have been a Coldplay fan since day one. I'm listening to "Leftrightleftrightleft" as we speak.

I have so many favorites off of that album Prime that I could never choose. It's an exquisite album on their part and a definite departure from their usual stuff up to that point. That album defined the summer after graduation for me and I always am able to look back at that time on good terms because of X&Y and that's what makes it one of my favorites.

The album is just full of musical art, so I absolutely agree with you that it is one of their finest albums they made prior. Out of all the albums they've released, that one probably takes 2nd or 3rd. Haven't really made a decision as to which one is my number one favorite, still working on it.

However, I could listen to X&Y over and over again, and it would never get old. That's sort of how a lot of Coldplay's music is actually. It feels new every time, at least for me.

I'm DIGGIN' the new avatar and siggy, btw!

I remember when I first heard Kingdom Come. I thought it was stripped, raw and real. I wouldn't have even noticed it because it was hidden if I hadn't burned it onto my iTunes library. I liked Fix You before it became mainstream. I heard it and thought "This song will be big." I think if I had to choose a favorite, it'd be Square One. I love how it starts out typical softcore Coldplay and then goes a little harder. I usually recommend it to people who aren't familiar with their stuff and think they're just pansy rock.

Been wanting to change it to this for a while now. So I did :grinthumb

Kingdom Come is phenomenal. There's actually an acoustic version on Youtube that's pretty fantastic. If you're looking for raw and powerful Coldplay, this is it!

I love how Chris Martin sounds amazing in and out of the studio. He's one of the vocalists that can pull it off all the time. I never see him struggling.

The Scientist on acoustic is pretty good as well.

See I've never thought AROBTTH was as fantastic as everyone claimed it was. I think the much more subdued Parachutes is tops for me.

The best from that album that at many points could have been easily applied to my life:

I give it credit for being the first Coldplay album I ever heard. The Scientist and Clocks is what got me hooked way back when, and they're still fun songs to listen to, but obviously not Coldplays best.

Parachutes is the most underrated Coldplay album I think. I haven't given that album a listen in some time, but I know it's great just by seeing the names of the songs again. I gotta give that one a spin again.
