Re: The New Official Who Thread

^^Nothing unusual about musicians fighting amongst themselves, they are almost as bad as "wrestlers" when it comes down to it...:lmao:

I am sure they laughed about that later on when they reminisced about the early days of the band.

Yet another legend who died because of his addictions.

It's hard for me to think of any other bass player who was as influential in the 60's as John Entwhistle was.

I completely agree. I can't think of a bassist from the 60's who was as purely talented as John either. He set a high benchmark.

^^He also pioneered the use of powerful amplifiers and bigger speaker stacks to make his bass sound more impressive live.(Of course as the legend goes, both Moon and Townshend were continually adding more equipment so he Had to do something to keep up and be heard...:D)

Well of course it takes more than just a drummer and a guitarist to be the loudest band in the world. You need some thundering bass playing in there too. ;)

^^You are spot on Cosmic, and it's no wonder the Who were such a popular band live, can you imagine going from the regular PA/stacks of most other bands then seeing the Who in all their glory afterward?...:lmao:

When I was a teenager everyone would tell you the Who were much better live than on record...set the performance standard for live shows for a long time.

Re: The New Official Who Thread

Not to mention everyone (but John) was so wild on stage. Keith flailing all over the place behind his kit, Roger whipping his microphone around, and Pete's windmills, powerslides, and everything else. It's pretty easy to see why they were a better live band than in the studio. They had the freedom to unleash that dangerous rock and roll energy that would lead to them smashing all of those nice, loud towers by the end of the night. :heheh:
