It's this time of year in which Australians and New Zealanders look back and salute the brave men and women who have fought for their country and their way of life, quite often costing them their own lives.

Regardless on your political views on any war that has been fought - from the World Wars, to Korea and Vietnam, to Afghanistan and Iraq - the armed forces deserve our respect for the work they do. They don't make the decision to go to war, but they are the ones that pay the ultimate price for it.

So, to the Soldiers, Sailors and Pilots of the Australian and New Zealand Armed Forces, and to all their allies around the world:

We Salute You.

Also, a shout out to my Grandpa, a World War II veteran who served in Papua New Guinea, and who is missing his first ANZAC Day as he's currently in hospital following a stroke :(

Hope your Grandpa is feeling a lot better today Feldy.

I just got in from watching the ANZACs march through the city center. I always get a lump in my throat then start to blubber when the mass pipe bands pass by.

All the best to your Grandpa Feldster and to the rest of those who are fighting and who have fought for Australia and New Zealand. Bravery and courage most of us couldn't even imagine and comprehend.

Keeping your grandpa in my thoughts and hope he has a good recovery!

Although I'm British, I knew it was ANZAC day as this was my wedding anniversary. It's a date I always remember.

Wait what? I was always under the impression that AU'ers and NZ'ers never did anything together other than disagree.

SORRY, no disrespect meant towards what you are announcing here. I just saw that and thought :omg:
