Re: Electric Light Orchestra

Having spent all day rattling Yes albums out I didn't know what to move onto next so in the end all the ELO albums came out.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

I never played Fire On High backwards, it didn't come across as anything but interesting when I bought Face The Music when it came out. That is my fave song of the album though.:grinthumb

I think I have everything except ELO2 that they put out in the 70's and Face the Music is probably my most played. I use to unplug my turntable, leave the amp on phono and hand spin the record backwards... they didn't have the internet back then:bonk:

I heard a priest's seminar on backmasking and ELO's message is innocent in comparison to say Led's Stairway or Queen's Another one bites the Dust.

I have the Xanadu cassette (somewhere) I enjoyed both the movie and the soundtrack... I was hot for Olivia back then, loved ELO and hey if it was cool enough for Swan from "The Warriors" to be in:grinthumb

I kind of tuned out to both in the 80's... ELO seemed to get a little disco and Olivia got physical.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

^^In all my years of playing and collecting vinyl I never spun any of my records backwards...I had heard a few stories about the messages that were put in there but I was never curious enough to find out for myself.:D

Face the Music is definitely one of my favorite ELO records, as for Olivia getting Physical my friend had such a crush on her back then he would buy anything she put out...I tried to swing him to the dark side, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, BTO, April Wine but he was more likely to play Neil Diamond or the Bee Gees instead.:heheh:

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

For me it was her earlier stuff... the Have you ever been mellow and I Honestly Love You days... in part to my mom and sister. I didn't really get into Grease all that much but Xanadu I really enjoyed... I'm sure it was the collaboration with ELO... The Let's get physical stuff just seemed like processed cheese to me.

Never got the BeeGees  although I do dig me sum Neil Diamond. I would love to see him in Las Vegas.

^^I didn't mind her early stuff either Terra, but I was never a big Neil Diamond fan I don't have any of his albums, I am tempted to pick up "Hot August Night" one of these days...

I think I'll play Face the Music tonight, I have such great memories from back then and they always come flooding back whenever I pick a classic old album like that one.:grinthumb

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

Hum... I just found something interesting.
Look at those two songs. I think both have the same 3 chord keys.

Re: Electric Light Orchestra

I've been in second hand record shop today and found this

The only problem I found is that was on cassettes, I couldn't buy it and I don't have tape player and definitely not looking forward to buy it. But... well... £3 for that...

^^I have two cassette players, but I've never seen that album before. Is it a live recording?
