Re: The Cars

Cruising to The Cars...man what memories! Early 80s We had a radio station at our high school called KRAT...between classes they'd play much of The Cars tunes mentioned here. Man I'm salivating nostalgia.

Re: The Cars

That first album was one of the best debut albums by anyone. Most all the songs were on the radio, similar to Boston's debut which might be one of the best ever. The Cars were one of the bands I listened to growing up and I think Elliot Easton is an underrated guitarist. The debut and Candy O are my faves.

Re: The Cars

I have loved The Cars since I was little. My earliest memory was watching some of their videos during the golden age of MTV. They are the one band that is on the car stereo during a nightly cruise.

Some of my favorite songs include:
You're All I've Got Tonight
Let's Go
Bye Bye Love
Dangerous Type
Since You've Gone
Moving in Stereo

and many many more! It really sucks that Ben Orr is no longer with us but his legacy lives on. I'm sure he's up in the heavens smiling upon his band as they press on.

Re: The Cars

"Sad Song" sounds like a "Nexterday" outtake.

"Free" is sounding very Cars-ish, though. Love, love, love.

Here's the other new one.. I didn't like it at all, the first few listens, but it is growing on me now.. I still really hate the first minute of it, but the chorus and the rest of it is really cool..

The lead guitar is great, but the solo kind of clashed with it IMO
To me, it just sounds like they need a better producer.. The song is growing on me though

Re: The Cars

I think one of their defining features is that their sound was much better live, than it ever was on the records. I wouldn't be surprised if Ric was producing, or co-producing. He's been at it for years. (Even at the birth of The Cars - I think he was producing for the band Suicide.)
