Thom Yorke should at least make the list, as well as Roger Daltrey and possibly Billie Joe Armstrong. I'm fully expecting Freddie Mercury to make at least top 10.

I have a feeling this fellow is going to make the list somewhere and it's going to irritate some people.....

I didn't know that the Beatles had a frontman. I thought it was a group thing.

You could argue that John was more of a frontman during their live years, as there are more popular Lennon songs than McCartney, Harrison or Starr songs from the early albums (of course, there was others like "I Saw Her Standing There" and "All My Loving" that were McCartney - but to say a few popular songs makes it joint frontman is like saying Jimmy Barnes wasn't Cold Chisel's frontman because Ian Moss sung "Tucker's Daughter" or that Pete Townshend singing for the Who nullified Roger Daltrey's frontman status).

But McCartney's role peaked after Rubber Soul, when they quit touring.

So I'd say frontman is very much a live thing, more than a studio thing, so Lennon was a frontman. But not a prominent one. As I said, mid 40's probably a good ranking. Definitely not Top 10 though.

brian johnson is a good frontman but does not belong among the tops. Johnny Rotten? There are plenty of tone def people out in the world but are not considered top frontmen. Where is Iggy Pop
