Being from the Great White North I have an appreciation for a lot of artists especially from the 70's like Thundermug, Dillinger, The Hunt, Rush, Triumph, A Foot in Coldwater, Moxy, Charlee, Maneige, Niel Merryweather, The Stampeders.
Excellent thread! The first that come to mind are Rush and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Let's not forget Frank Marino And Mahogany Rush. Marino rocked with the intensity of Jimi Hendrix with a lot of funk and soul.
I gotta admit that I am not 100% certain as to all of the "successful" bands who came from Canada.
I do know that Loverboy did, though, so I am picking them.
To me, they were far more consistent than Adams, at least when it came to giving fans what they wanted. Adams had more hits and sold a lot more records. But you didn't always know what you were going to get with a Bryan Adams album, especially after the early 1990's.
