It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, if Nick did join the band and they were successful that is their choice.

I didn't even know they hired another singer years ago...:heheh:

Well it's okay with me, as long as he don't try to be Jim. I'm happy they're continuing their career because now I have chance to see them live, because I weren't born when they were famous.

From memory, The Doors' Ray and Robby toured back in 2002/3 as the "21st Century Doors" with vocalist Ian Astbury and Stuart Copeland on drums. Densmore, who originally elected not to participate, threatened legal action (for the name use?), and the project was scrapped not too far into the tour. I don't recall if Densmore susequently joined and the tour continued or not.

I knew the drum tech for Copeland at the time and asked him to grab a used drumstick for me so I could add it to my collection, but he never did. :boo hoo:

But guys, it's an issue of integrity. How can The Doors get mixed up in reality tv business? This is like if Daria stopped wearing glasses so she could be popular!

Nah, I saw the 21c on their first tour. Wonderful little show, loved every minute of it. But at this point it's become something of a joke. They have a revolving door of singers... what's wrong? Nobody wants to sing for the freaking Doors long enough to keep somebody? John Densmore said he'd join the band again if they got a singer who could compete with Jim -- he named Eddie Vedder. If Nick is a good singer then that's all well and good, but I don't see why they have to be digging in Gene's pool, so to speak. It just seems very tacky. If the kid went off and started a music career and THEN joined Riders, that'd be a bit of a different story. But as it is, he's coming fresh outta reality TV and that doesn't sit well with me.

I don't have a problem with reality TV or with any of that kind of stuff, I liked that rock band show they had with Sebastian Bach and all. But there are types of bands who do that kind of thing and then there are the freakin' Doors... They're the type of band which is supposed to maintain mystique and the air of inegrity. I guess by now, most people don't consider Riders on the Storm to have much of any integrity left but I guess I still do.

For the remaining members to decide if they want to tour and pick a new singer that is their business. I don't like any reality tv shows...not one is any good in my opinion. If Gene's son used his Dad's connections to get a shot, well that just gets him in the door, if he isn't any good then it won't go any further and he would have learned from the experience.

I wouldn't go to see another version of the Doors regardless, listening to their old albums is enough for me.

Sounds like a total kid to me, tbh. LOOKS freakin' badass as hell but I'm certain they could find a hundred better singers. JMO.

Unless they gain popularity for having Gene's kid in which case they may keep him even if he sucks. ;) It's their decision but it goes without saying that everybody has their fair shot at an opinion.
