I thought this was cool when it came out.

This version begs the question, why?

The Rundgren track is from a Tribute lp version of the first lp.....they list the players in the article for each track. Rundgren and Arthur Brown did vocals only on '21st Man....'
There is an alt version of that as well as an instrumental one.
They have a few of the songs there and list all of the lp
The whole tribute lp on you tube

I was not even aware of that lp...and I'm a Crimson fan and have a few other versions of songs from them by other artists.

It didn't start with Covid but it seems guesting remotely on songs/albums has become an epidemic. Gone are the days of having to actually show up at a studio to record with somebody. I'm a Todd fan and yes, I'm complaining about him. He has been in the money grab bag business for a while now and some of it is tough to stomach!

I lost track of Todd years ago after Hermit of Mink Hollow (1978) so dont know much about him and money grabbing.
I like all the earlier lps and even his Nazz days but I had a number of his lps already so stopped buying them. Also enjoyed a few of the early Utopia lps. There are so many good artists that one simply doesnt have the time or money to follow everyone.
I'm going to give a listen to all his newer things working backwards to see what I missed....if anything.

I took a 25 year hiatus from Todd (1982 - 2007) and have still seen him 22 times in concert! Have fun with Space Force (2022), White Knight (2017), Global (2015), State (2013) and Arena (2008). Good luck making it through that gauntlet. I left out (re)Production (2011) which is Todd doing covers of songs he produced and Todd Rundgren's Johnson which is all Robert Johnson songs. Just the thought of binge listening to those makes me a little queasy!

So far got through Space Force, White Knight, Global, and State,,,,,there are a few interesting tracks at times....would not buy any of the lps but a 'best of anthology' would be interesting.
I quite like Arena.....best rock songs he's done in many years and he does them in the style of other bands while still making them his songs,
'Gun' sounds like ZZTop, 'Strike' like ACDC, 'Bardo' reminds me of Robin Trower...etc.

Just listened to 'Johnson'....very workman like hard rock blues versions of the songs. He' s a decent guitarist on the songs but doesnt bring anything new to them. He even does Travelin Riverside BLues which ZEp did. Kasim Sulton plays bass. I assume he plays drums ,etc.
Not bad for what it is. I thought it would be a more acoustic version though.

'Liars' up next...
