i saw this pop up and had to seriously think about my reply. To say these two songs are the best the 20th century has to offer is way to narrow in choices. Both songs are outstanding and deserve recognition as some of the finest offerings of the 20th century.
To truly make my choice, I would need to know exactly what criteria someone is looking for that makes a song the best. Without any further guidelines than 2 song choices, which is basically pick which one I like the best, isn’t fair. I could easily add Pink Floyd ~ Comfortably Numb or Animals ~ House of the Rising Sun or The Who ~ Baba O’Riley or Lynyrd Skynyrd ~ Freebird and still be in the realm of best songs of the 20th Century.
BTW, there are a lot of lists out there in cyber land of 10 to 500 top 20th century songs.
For the sake of the poll, I will choose Stairway to Heaven.
My write in all time best song is Silent Lucidity ~ Queensryche.
