I remember hearing of his death on January 1st 1984 (New years day) and it was announced at the same time of his death that he was going to present a television series called The History of Rock or something like that but he passed away either before production commenced or it wasn't fully completed?.

Rory Gallagher recorded a instrumental album track called Alexis in tribute to him that is included on Rory's Fresh Evidence album released in 1990.

That's sad. I am reading his biog at the moment. I got it off Amazon.

I noticed Rory Gallagher reissue records are pricey :O

With regards to Alexis Korner he was seen as 'The Father of British Blues' and was a mover and shaker within the recording industry having many contacts with record companies and record company executives plus he had an association with the BBC where he worked as a radio presenter with his own radio show on the BBC world service broadcasting rock & blues music during the mid/late 1960s plus he had connections with bands, managers and individuals such as The Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Free, Taste and a many more inside the music business.

Out of interest I looked up what guitars he used then looked at the price for the same models now o_O

btw I forgot to mention Big Bill Broonzy is in those photos above. They did a couple of charity gigs for him when he fell ill with cancer to raise some cash.
