A great class for sure. Just missing this week were The Coasters, The Drifters, Nazareth, and Wishbone Ash. When I first started this I was told that if I didn’t have people like Rory Gallagher eligible that people would revolt. Of course everyone is eligible, and it took Rory 6 “years” to get in, but the promise has been fulfilled. I’m also very happy to see some prior wrongs get righted in the overdue inductions of Wilson Pickett and Ricky Nelson. (Now for Dion or The Drifters?!?) Thanks as always to all the voters. On we go to 2003. This, in my opinion, is one of the best classes there has ever been, so we may be seeing a lot of the first year eligibles on the nomination list. However, keep in mind that you can vote for 15 total artists, but only 5 of those can come from this newly eligible list. You can certainly vote for less than 5 if you wish. Any artist is eligible as long as they aren’t already inducted, and debuted in 1977 or earlier. If you don’t see the name on the list, that’s OK. Feel free to vote for them but most likely that artist has been on the list before and just didn’t garner enough support at the time.
