I've heard about this movie project on his life, and was looking forward to seeing it, but this puts a damper on the whole thing....plus this kind of thing always spooks me when you consider how his brother (Duane) and Berry Oakley (their bass guitarist) both also died violent deaths in seperate motorcycle accidents. It will be quite a movie though if it still goes ahead, between his 7 or 8 wives I think it was, and his 20 years of drugs and booze dependency, they could probably make 2 or 3 movies on his life. But this is very tragic.

Not just that they both died in separate motorcycle accidents, but they died like 1 year and 2 weeks apart from each other and the accidents that they had were literally 3 blocks apart from each other.

Duane died at the hospital hours after the accident due to multiple internal injuries. Berry walked away from his accident and denied medical treatment, only to complain of a massive headache a few hours later, to which he was brought the hospital and died from brain swelling due to a fractured skull (if memory serves me correctly).

I am a little puzzled the production team on location didn't know about the train schedules...that's very unprofessional.

Eiger Sanction with Clint Eastwood, one of the cameramen fell to his death during filming.

The Road Warrior,,,I think 2 or more stuntmen were killed filming the chase scenes.

Twilight Zone, Vic Morrow and a helicopter crew crashed and died.

Making movies can be dangerous.

Yes because you have to put your trust in the kind of people who make movies for a living.

^^That's true enough. One of the reasons it took so long to finish any of the Matrix movies were all the bumps bruises and more serious injuries the actors suffered doing the stunts.

An update:

Allman movie production shut down

Production of Gregg Allman biopic Midnight Rider has been halted after the death of a crew member while filming was taking place on a railway line.

The move comes after Unclaimed Freight Productions were accused of criminal negligence in the aftermath of last month’s tragedy.

Sarah Jones, 27, was killed last month when a train appeared on the track unexpectedly, leaving moviemakers less than a minute to escape to safety. Seven others were injured as the vehicle sent equipment and props flying.

A spokesman for Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia has reported that Unclaimed Freight had permission from the landowner to be on the area surrounding the lines, but did not have permission from railway operator CXS to be on the lines themselves.

Oscar-winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler tells Variety: “Sarah and the injured crew members were not victims of an ‘accident’ but of criminal negligence – something that would not have happened if proper safety rules were in place.”

Last week Allman said: “I am so terribly saddened by the tragedy. My thoughts and prayers of out to her family, friends and colleagues during this time of mourning.”

Midnight Rider, based on the veteran musician’s book My Cross To Bear, is set to star William Hurt as the present-day Allman while All American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter plays the musician’s younger self. Duane Allman is to be played by Wyatt Russell.

Yeah The Road Warrior (us Aussies know it as Mad Max 2 - The Road Warrior) is pretty full on.
There was a Train Sequence in the James Bond film Octopussy were the Train had travelled past a certain point and the James Bond Stunt Double which was outside was badly injured as a result, I believe they left the footage in the movie too because I think it was in the scenes where he had to battle with the Bushes.

The more I read about this incident the more outrageous it gets, there surely has to be criminal charges for negligent homicide because somebody is responsible for this poor girl's death. What it even more inexplicable is that the USA must have literally thousands of miles of un-used/abandoned railway tracks where there aren't even any trains running any longer, like the one they used in the Stand by Me movie, pretty much that whole movie is filmed with kids walking along a railway line, and yet these people pick an active line to go filming on and then just hope that no trains happen to come along?
