Winterlong is a heavy/power/progressive metal band from Sweden. They formed in 1998 and have released 4 studio albums and 1 'best of' album. They have had quite few band member changes, and each line-up change brings new things to the music.

They have clean vocals which often takes advantage of that "Beauty and the Beast" male/female contrast. Their music style varies greatly from heavy to progressive. They also use a lot of guest and session musicians such as Mistheria.

I am going to cover them in reverse order, since IMO their last album is their best.

There must be something in the water of Scandinavia...they have to produce the most "Metal" bands per population of anywhere in the world...:heheh:

I like their sound and I stumbled across Mistheria a few weeks ago, he is a great keyboard player even if he's just a guest.

Winterlong is on a really good record label, Lion Music, which is a label mainly for progressive and hard rock artists. Notable artists on this label are Mistheria, Ritchie Kotzen, Lars Mattsson, and Seventh Wonder

The lead guitarist for Winterlong has gone solo, so I am not sure what will happen to the band. :(
