On recognizability alone:

I would have to put my money on Ozzy... maybe Gene Simmons. (With some thanks to their reality shows)

I don't think there is a generation alive who doesn't know Ozzy...
I would bet if Paul McCartney walked down the street many kids wouldn't know who he was.

That is a very very good choice. ZZ Top had slipped my mind but Billy and Dusty are very distinctive.

That's one theory. Another theory is Josh Homme isn't distinctive looking for people to recognize him instantly.....or in some cases at all.

That combined with the fact that Queens isn't really that big of a band either. If you are into 'stoner metal' (or whatever it's classified as now), sure then you'd recognize him. The the rest of the world, not so much.
