Also, one thing I noticed while I watched this was how half the people who provided commentary throughout the countdown didn't really have a clue about music outside of their own little shells but still thought they did. Like, it didn't matter which of the 100 artists they were talking about because sure enough each time someone would go "Everyone loves their music. They are just universally loved and everyone knows their songs.". No, how about you pull your head out of your ass.

Indeed and "If you don't like them..." then there's something wrong with you type lines!

Afterwards the host says most of their voters weren't even born when The Beatles broke up 40 years ago, so that speaks volumes about this lousy list.

Signed,

Rick

Well, let me put it like this...

If you take away...

Prince
Bob Marley
Nirvana
Madonna
Queen
U2
Aretha Franklin
Radiohead
Jay-Z
Rage Against the Machine
Sade
Beyonce
Public Enemy
Peter Gabriel
Iggy & the Stooges
Whitney Houston
Genesis
Notorious B.I.G.
Talking Heads
Justin Timberlake
Coldplay
Tupac Shakur
R.E.M.
The Cure
Run-DMC
Judas Priest
Eminem
Mary J. Blige
Earth Wind and Fire
N.W.A.
George Michael
Bee Gees
Beastie Boys
LL Cool J
Pearl Jam
Mariah Carey
OutKast
Depeche Mode
Hall & Oates
Alicia Keys...

then the list would be GREAT.

:lmao:

VH1 is out of it.

Out of curiosity, what on Earth do you even listen to? You don't even like The Stooges, Judas Priest, Queen?

IMO any list without Bob Marley is a piece of shit. *shrug*

I always forget that KISS is an actual band, and not a gigantic marketing gimmick...

I don't. They were original and wierd in the 70's. Took sexual topics to a twisted level. The make-up the show...good songwriting. Not always proper or clean live either...which should be a good thing for alot of people who like a bit of ugly and artsy stylings in their classic rock. (and for many it is)

Lou Reed, Iggy, The Dolls ect. They were a part of that whole creative New York vibe that was happening in the 70's

They could be considered more of a marketing thing today...but that's because they're old and had an image that was more easily marketed than other bands.

Like a wise man once said..you wouldn't see Marvel Presents The Eagles. :heheh:

I think Paul is back to being pretty well grounded with his music and his art (painting) and with plans on making another new record since Sonic Boom seems to be back on track musically.

There are a couple bands that I don't care for on this list. But not KISS.

They deserve it...as many of them do. Also as a Beatles fan first and formost I can understand how others can be bored and cheesed off at these awards, shows, list or whatever else has the top blah blah blah...

..like some have already said. We know who's gonna come out on top.

:grinthumb :heheh:

Perhaps the Beatles mostly keep coming top of these kinda lists for a reason. Pains me to see Jackson on that list, when you consider what he got away with for years.

Groovy Man,your taste in music is exceptional. I listen to a lot of those on that list myself. I also notice an absence of really obscure, or vastly overrated acts from your list.
