If you mean connecting to something then yeah, it's the greatest feeling ever. :)

I mean that music is really something special that speaks to all of us in different ways. It's not just a bunch of marks on a piece of paper. It's not just the way someone plays a particular instrument. It's something you feel down your spine and deep in your soul.

With lovers, buggers, & thieves.
I am also drawn to emotional music. (It's good for the soul, to be exposed to emotional music, movies, etc) but I'm drawn more to sadness. I can list a whole bunch of songs that brought me to tears because they were written to do so, but here are some less obvious selections: these all brought me to tears on my first listen:

The most rewarding experience is being moved to tears when it was unintended by the writer:

"Turn Of The Century" Yes (1977)

"Unknown Legend" Neil Young (1992)

"A Whiter Shade Of Pale" Procol Harum (1967)

"Here With Me" Sarah Brightman (2000)

Loosely veiled "faith" songs can be so beautiful that the beauty brings me to tears:

"Gabriel" Lamb (2001)

"Wherever There Is Light" No-Man (2009)

"Here Comes The Flood" Peter Gabriel (solo piano "Shaking The Tree" 1990)

"Bring Me To Life" Evanescence (2003)

The writing from Justin Furstenfeld is as personal as it gets as it follows the confessions of a mind that switches from beautiful imagery to tragic flawed confessions to the darkest places I've ever seen a non-metal band go. This song and video gave me tears and chills rthe first time I heard it. The magic is that I couldn't relate to the situation that was singing about but he's such a great storyteller that he made you feel like you were in his place. He later regretted the album as he went into some dark and crazy places regarding his wife but I think it's an amazing time capsule that showed every emotion and side of the struggle with divorce particularly with a child involved. This was my number one album that year and is a modern classic imo. Rarely does one get so close to a writers psyche.
