Old Dude
I do not suffer fools gladly.
I've been getting emails about the Moody Blues upcoming ocean cruise, where they and a bunch of other old rock acts will be the onboard entertainment. There was another such cruise for European heavy metal acts. Then there is the phenomenon of aging country and country/pop acts setting up shop permanently in Branson, Missouri so that instead of touring to where their fans are, they bus their fans in to see them in Branson. Pop stars have long done the same thing in Las Vegas, where Elvis ended his career.
So, where do the classic rock acts of the 60's and 70's end up when they're too old to handle the rigors of touring on the road? Will Southern Rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, etc. end up in Branson? Will bands like the Stones or Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band book themselves in places like Caesar's Palace in Vegas? Or maybe the Boss might be better at a casino in Atlantic City. Will the Baby Boomers who make up much of their fan base and who are in the 60's and 70's themselves prefer flying to a resort city to going to local stadium concerts?
