Where do old rockers with old fans go when they get old?

I went to physically big (for this country) venues and those with a big reputation, but always preferred the smaller clubs and pubs. I noticed a club near me, that had Tyketto and Glenn Hughes a short while ago, is now nearly all tribute acts. I don't mind them, but something has gone wrong if there are more tribute acts than originals. I thought the old bands were putting their feet up - maybe they are on a cruise ship somewhere. In the future, will they be putting rappers on space shuttles?

Party, yes. Classic Rock, no way. It looks like a celebration of bad 80's pop. Not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you like. Different strokes for different folks, and all that. But for a Baby Boomer who wants to experience some classic rock partying, that's a nightmare. Our kids or grandkids would probably like it. Or maybe those of us in a state of denial about our age looking to drink some poisoned water from the fountain of youth.

Speaking as an old guy I have learned to really like the "Jamband" scene a lot.
Great music.
And the big thing is the great mutiday outdoor camping concerts.
The party is in the jamband scene these days.
And there are festivals all summer long.

Jamcruise would be great as well but I just can't get that time off.
It's tough enough getting the occasional Friday during the summer.

Hell yeah!

Summer time means big outdoor concerts.
They just make me happy.
All we need is to set up a spot on the infield with a nice comfy chair a short walk to the beer tent and I'm good. Tunes and happiness.

One of the BEST outdoor events I ever attended was a Bluegrass festival.
Mind you, I'm not into Bluegrass, but it was a blast.
Bunch of country folk, dancing, food, beer, dart boards.......all the cool redneck stuff.

We've been going to casino's the last few years. Smaller venues, no bad seats, not to steep prices and we can get a buffet.

Yeah. I agree.
There are some great bluegrass events.
I love bluegrass.
The Steel Drivers are on of my favorite bands in any genre.
This is a great event. We try to make it every year.

There's a lot to be said for seeing a great musical performer or band in a relaxed, comfortable setting. And, I'll wager that a band full of people my age would enjoy being able to stay in the same place for an extended period of time, with no bus trips between each show, and having the audience do the traveling between shows instead of the band.

I like smaller venues, too. I saw Blackfoot back in the early 80's in a large hotel in North Carolina.

Who would you go see in a relaxed setting? There is an amphitheater in my area, a very nice smaller venue, where Jimmy Buffett comes each year. That place is loaded with folks my age and older. I have to admit, it's not relaxed! People our age can definitely be rowdy.
