The lands of Marshall Stack.
Wonderfully clever musician with great ear for melody and a tune. Not enough people I know are into what he accomplished.
I agree dr wu..... when I first heard him in early '77 I was convinced he was American!
From Liverpool area I believe - when he was with the Attractions everything clicked just right... after Armed Forces his style changed.
Here's another forgotten singer I've been tuned into of late - Ian Gomm a member ofthe respected Brinsley Schwartz.

Ian Gomm - Hold On.

Another extremely clever band with great songs......
XTC-Senses working overtime
Very talented and Andy Partridge is very funny. Wiltshire the county they hail from has many of those white chalk horses in hillsides. Apart from Trains.... they made Swindon famous.
Not seen them live since Drums & Wires Tour - great hook here:
XTC - Statue Of Liberty.

Superb song and LP.....was going to put this on the 'rate the song above thread' and mention 'Springsteen after the Nebraska' post but I was too slow.
Van once said he was tired of other musicians 'ripping off' his style....this was many years ago in 1985 in several music mags and he griped about Springsteen.
Anyway one can certainly see, imho, what Van was talking about.
