What’s this? Tell me more…
The Asylum Kids are one of my favourite South African bands that was active in the early 80's. The band featured Robbi Robb on lead vocals/guitars, Steve Howells on drums/vocals and Dino Archon bass/vocals. They were basically hounded by the SA Police which eventually caused their break up. The music imo is more post-punk/hard rock than punk, with intelligent lyrics and fantastic music, very energetic and sometimes very angry. Robbi Robb now lives in the US and I think he still plays with Tribe after Tribe, which are a good band, but nowhere near the greatness of Asylum Kids. They bought out two brilliant albums which are very collectable and very difficult to find, even here in South Africa. I listen to both albums on a regular basis, especially when I'm at work.
There is almost nothing on YouTube or the internet on this band so there's not much that I can share with you unfortunately.
