We can discuss this when you are my age and have collected over 7,000 albums Nolo,,,they tend to blur together at that point.:oyea:

It has to be a band I grew up with and followed religiously to remember the line-ups these days otherwise I Have to pick up the CD/Album or look online to get the details right...:gg:

Just having another re-listen to possibly Heep's most 'commercial' album from the 1980s and maybe even there best album ever??.

ABOMINOG

This album is choc-full of very commercial songs a very long way from DEMONS & WIZARDS. :grinthumb

It is possibly the heaviest album in terms or riffs and all, but that's the album I can't get into. Don't know about Head First yet, Equator fits just fine from Peter Goalby era..

You say that like it's a good thing :D

There are PLENTY of Uriah Heep albums after the 70's that I can't get into, Abomininog being one of many, and I don't remember it having anything heavy on it, other then maybe Too Scared To Run Away ( though I admit I haven't heard it in years ).
However, I am starting to like some of the latest stuff they have done. More of a hard rock thing again instead of their middle of the road, pedestrian,
pop/rock stuff that I find totally boring.

I heard both of the HEAD FIRST & EQUATOR albums (on vinyl) years ago in the early 1990s but i can't really remember them in detail so it's probably not fair to pass any real judgement on them other then to say that i think i was disappointed with HEAD FIRST on hearing it after liking ABOMINOG. As for EQUATOR i vaguely thought that it was better then HEAD FIRST but it was such a long time ago now i can't really remember both of thoughs two albums that well but ABOMINOG i always thought was a 'good album' of theres.

80s was pretty much a pop rock era and Equator moved a bit into MTV side.

Here's an interview and Peter pretty much explains the sound of Equator. Mick is such a funny bloke. :heheh:

CONQUEST was an album that alot of Heep fans do not like at all...even though Hensley is a part of it. Possibly John Sloman singing on it.

Anyway..since we never really tapped into it, I'd be curious to see what others here didn't like about it, OR if you do like it or maybe even a couple songs, let's hear 'em.

I have it...and it's been a LONG time since I dug it out. Give me a reason to give it another spin.

I got this album and never listened to it before. After side one I was so disappointed I couldn't be bothered to listen to another side. The direction they went on that album is the main thing I don't understand about it. John Solman is a good singer, but he does not fit Uriah Heep and this band was not the same without Lee Kerslake, who went to play for Ozzy Osbourne. Feelings is the song I am familiar due to demo with John Lawton, which I prefer, just because it does have that sound of Uriah Heep.
