Even though Hey Soul Sister was one of the most played songs of 2010, the Grammy awards completely overlooked this song. The band received one award in 2010 for 'Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals' for their live version of this song.
Lead vocalist Pat Monahan said, "You know, it was a strange night for us, to be real honest with you. Playing the nominations show, being seated in the front to watch all the performances, and then to not be nominated for any of them during that show. I don't really know what the take is, to be real honest. It kind of felt like a practical joke at the time."
Evidently, what got the song snubbed at the Grammy's was the digital release of the song, which makes them ineligible for an award.
