Do they or don't they belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? These acts have not yet been recognized by the Hall despite their impact in the world of music. One thing to remember as you view these pictures, ABBA made it in last year. Just saying...
11-Undercard - Cheap Trick
Able to craft the perfect pop/rock song In Color and black and white, Cheap Trick spun their wheels for a few albums before breaking out with their live release At Budokan in 1979. "I Want You to Want Me" and "Surrender" remain radio staples to this day, while the boys still continue to make records and tour.
10.Boston
For a "Long Time" Boston's first release was the best selling debut ever with 17 million albums sold. No Classic Rock radio station playlist would be complete without hits like "More Than A Feeling," Don't Look Back" and "Peace of Mind." And if you had a girlfriend named Amanda in the '80's, you were in.
9. Peter Frampton
"Do You Feel Like We Do" and think it's wrong that Peter Frampton is not a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? The former Humble Pie axe-man hit it big in 1976 when Frampton Comes Alive! dominated the charts and went on to sell more than six million copies. He also brought the talk box to the mainstream, although that may be something he should keep to himself.
8.The Moody Blues
This group of English rockers could copyright symphonic psychedelia as their own. With classic tunes like "Nights in White Satin," "Ride My See-Saw," "The Story in Your Eyes" and "The Voice, " The Moody Blues have sold more than 70 million albums around the world and still tour.
7.Electric Light Orchestra
Mixing classical strings with modern rock, pop and a whole lot of Beatles, ELO hit the Top 40 27 times between 1972 and 1986 while selling more than 50 million albums around the world. And if all of that wasn't enough, they used to tour with a stage that looked like a spaceship!
6. Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper has been living the Rock & Roll dream for decades; even if it has been his nightmare. Nominated yet again for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Billion Dollar Baby hit the charts several times in the '70s and amped up his performances with scary make-up and live snakes. As Wayne and Garth said, "we're not worthy!"
5.Journey
Yes, we know, selling millions of albums, topping the charts and selling out stadiums around the world consistently for decades does not guarantee you a pass to Cleveland. But really? No Journey in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Their music helped lead a team to the World Series, closed out one of television's most popular shows, and opened another. "Don't Stop Believin' " boys, the Hall should one day welcome you with "Open Arms."
4. Chicago
A fusion of Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk and Blues, Chicago dominated the charts and radio throughout the '70s and '80s. Seriously, no other band in the '70s had more hits on the Billboard charts than Chicago. The band also had some of the coolest album packaging, featuring double album sets in elaborate fold-out sleeves filled with info and art.
3. Bad Company
Bad Company took the concept of the stadium rocker and perfected it with tunes like "Can't Get Enough," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy." One of the first super-groups, with band members from Free, King Crimson and Mott the Hoople, they hit number one on the Billboard charts twice, sold millions of albums and still tour to this day.
2. Rush
After 40 years of steady touring in sold-out stadiums around the world and the upcoming release of Rush's 20th album, one has to wonder what it takes to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Apparently selling 40 million albums and being a consistent and relevant part of the music industry for decades doesn't count for much among Hall voters.
1. KISS
We're not sure how there can be a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame without these guys considering that they've been through just about every cycle the music biz has to offer. They've got the gimmick, sold the records, had the hits, filled the stadiums, been through drug and alcohol issues, sold out on a merchandising level of which the Elvis estate should be jealous, appeared in a TV movie, faded away and then rode the nostalgia wave back to the top. They are the epitome of rock n' roll.
