It looks like everyone has their own definition of a "metal" band or album
Yeah, the number of 'sub-genres' that metal has is mind boggling - I actually looked into it one time recently to find out what 'sub-genre' my two favourite 'metal' bands were in, because I got so confused by it all that I ended up thinking that maybe my two favourites of this variety (KoRn and Slipknot) aren't any kind of metal at all. I discovered that there are such things as Viking Metal, Cello Metal, Funeral Doom Metal, Folk Metal, Celtic Metal, Neo Classical Metal, and Christian Metal. I think it said there were over 50 different kinds of metal in all.
Anyway! ....here, quite randomly 10 favourites...
1. All Hope is Gone - Slipknot
2. Black Album - Metallica
3. Take a Look in the Mirror - Korn
4. The Golden Age of Grotesque - Marilyn Manson
5. Volume 4 - Black Sabbath
6. Brave New World - Iron Maiden
7. The Path of Totality - Korn
8. Lovedrive - The Scorpions
9. Piledriver - Status Quo
10. Bandolier - Budgie
I'm sure somebody is going to tell me that half of these aren't even metal, which is fine by me, in which case we can maybe have another new sub-genre and call it 'Sound Hasn't a Clue What the Crap He's Talking About Metal'
