2004, Jan Berry of Jan and Dean, died at the age of 62, after being in poor health sustained in a 1966 car crash. Had the 1963 US No.1 & UK No.26 single “Surf City,” (co written by Beach Boy Brian Wilson). At the height of their fame, Jan and Dean hosted and performed at The T.A.M.I. Show, the film also featured The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles.

1946 Andy Bown (keyboardist, rhythm guitarist for Status Quo) is born in Beckenham, London, England.

1950 Tony Banks (keyboardist for Genesis) is born in East Hoathly, East Sussex, England.

1953 Rock guitarist Wally Stocker (of The Babys, Air Supply and Humble Pie) is born in London, England.

1959 Keyboard player Andrew Farris, who forms INXS along with his brothers, Tim and Jon, is born in Perth, Western Australia. He and lead singer Michael Hutchence team up to write most of the group's songs.

1986 – Sammy Hagar plays his first gig with Van Halen.

1987, U2 performed from the roof of a store in downtown LA to make the video for ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’, attracting thousands of spectators and bringing traffic to a standstill. The police eventually stop the shoot.

2006 – Pete Wells, slide guitarist and one of the founders of Australian power blues band Rose Tattoo, dies in a Sydney hospital. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002 and had spent the previous five weeks in the hospital. He is 59.

1979 Eric Clapton married George Harrison's ex-wife, Patti Boyd at the Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Christ Jesus church in Tucson, Arizona. To throw off the press, Clapton's manager, Roger Forrester had booked the event in nearly every church in town. Eric's band and road crew rented black and powder blue tuxedos, but forgot to order shoes, so they showed up wearing their everyday, dirty sneakers.

2013 American rock guitarist and session musician Hugh McCracken died of leukemia in New York City at the age of 70. He appeared on many recordings by Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Billy Joel, Roland Kirk, Roberta Flack, B. B. King, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, The Monkees, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, James Taylor, Phoebe Snow, Bob Dylan, Carly Simon, Graham Parker, Eric Carmen, Loudon Wainwright III, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Four Seasons, Hall and Oates, Gary Wright and Andy Gibb. Because of such high demand for his work, McCracken declined Paul McCartney's invitation to help form his new band, Wings after appearing on his 1971 album Ram.

1964 Radio Caroline, the UK's first all-day English-language "pirate" radio station, begins broadcasting from the Fredericia, a former Danish ferry, in the North Sea.

1992, Over a $100,000 (£58,800) worth of damage was caused at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, California, when Ozzy Osbourne invited the first two rows of the audience on stage. Several others took up the offer and the band was forced to exit the stage.
