1945 Robert Martinez (original drummer for ? & the Mysterians) is born. Like the rest of his bandmates, he was born in Texas, but raised in Michigan.

1948 David "Davy" O'List (of Roxy Music, The Nice) is born in Chiswick, West London, England.

1948 "Skunk" Baxter (guitarist for The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan) is born Jeffrey Allen Baxter in Washington, D.C.

1948 Ted Nugent is born Theodore Anthony Nugent in Detroit, Michigan.

2008 Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh marries Marjorie Bach, making him brother-in-law to Ringo Starr, who is married to Marjorie's sister Barbara.

2004 The funeral took place in Arlington, Texas for Damageplan and Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, Eddie Van Halen, placed Darrell’s original black and yellow stripes guitar into the KISS Kasket he was buried in. Several thousand fans and friends gathered at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, to mourn the guitarist’s death. Darrell was shot five times in the back of the head during a gig at the Alrosa Villa Club in Columbus on 8th Dec 04 by a mentally ill former US Marine. Damageplan's drum technician, John Brooks, and tour manager, Chris Paluska, were both injured in the incident.

1942 Dave Clark (of The Dave Clark Five) is born in Tottenham, North London, England.

1946 Drummer Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge is born in Brooklyn. He does a lot of work with Rod Stewart, co-writing his hit "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"

1974 Young Frankenstein opens in theaters. When members of Aerosmith take a break from recording the Toys in the Attic album and see the film, they laugh hysterically at the scene where Igor (Marty Feldman) tells Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) to "walk this way," and the doctor imitates Igor's walk. Returning to the studio, they have the title to the track they've been working on.

2007 American singer songwriter Dan Fogelberg died at his home in Maine at the age of 56. The US singer, songwriter discovered he had advanced prostate cancer in 2004. Had the 1981 album ‘The Innocent Age’, which featured the hits ‘Leader of the Band,’ ‘Hard to Say,’ and ‘Run for the Roses.’

1945 Tony Hicks (of The Hollies) is born in Nelson, Lancashire, England.

1949 Billy Gibbons (guitarist, lead vocalist of ZZ Top) is born in Houston, Texas.

1968 Christopher Thorn (rhythm guitarist for Blind Melon) is born in Dover, Pennsylvania.

1984 Dusty Hill of ZZ Top is shot in the stomach when his girlfriend pulls off his boot and his .38-caliber derringer falls out and discharges. The bullet is designed not to exit, but to do internal damage, which is bad news; he makes it to the hospital where doctors remove most of it, but fragments remain in his back.
