1945 Doug Clifford (drummer for Creedence Clearwater Revival) is born in Palo Alto, California.

1958 Dion & The Belmonts release "I Wonder Why.

1959 The Drifters release "There Goes My Baby."

1968 The newly formed Apple Records - a label founded by The Beatles - takes a pass on signing the relatively unknown David Bowie.

1992 David Bowie marries his second wife, the Somalian-born supermodel and entrepreneur Iman, in a private ceremony in Switzerland. The couple relocate to New York City soon after, and in 2000, Iman gives birth to Alexandria Jones - Bowie's second child (his son, the film director Duncan Jones, was born to his first wife, Angela Barnett, in 1971).

2007 US President George W. Bush is denied a luxury suite at the Imperial Hotel in Vienna when Mick Jagger, in town with The Rolling Stones on a tour, books it first.

1974, Pamela Courson the long-term companion of the late Jim Morrison died of a drugs overdose. It was Courson who found The Doors singer dead on July 3, 1971 in the bathtub of their apartment in Paris, France.

1955 David Sikes (bass player for Boston, Giuffria) is born near Cambridge, England, but will be raised in California.

1960 Thrash metal singer Paul Baloff (of Exodus) is born in San Francisco, California.

1965 Alt rock bassist Eric Avery (of Jane's Addiction) is born in Los Angeles, California.

1985 Exodus release their first studio album, Bonded By Blood.

1975 Heavy metal drummer Nathan "Joey" Jordison (Slipknot) is born in Des Moines, Iowa.

1976 Jose Pasillas (drummer for Incubus) is born in Calabasas, California.

2005 Bruce Springsteen releases Devils & Dust.

1963, Little Peggy March started a three week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'I Will Follow Him'. At 15 years, 1 month and 13 days old, Little Peggy March became the youngest female singer to have a US No.1 record.

1981, Ringo Starr married actress and one time 'Bond girl' Barbara Bach. The pair met while filming the movie, Caveman, with Dennis Quaid and Shelley Long. In attendance at the wedding were George Harrison and Paul McCartney.

1947 Pete Ham (front man for Badfinger) is born in Swansea, Wales.

1951 Ace Frehley of Kiss is born Paul Frehley in the Bronx, New York

1969 Joe Cocker makes his TV debut, singing "Feelin' Alright" on The Ed Sullivan Show.
