I kind of know what you mean Lynch up to a point The Who's 1960s singles were all pretty good 'pop songs' but the albums weren't that great until they released Tommy in 1969 then they were on a roll for 2-3 years releasing Live At Leeds, Who's Next & Quadrophenia. The two moon albums following Quadrophenia being The Who By Numbers & Who Are You were pretty average albums I thought although to be fair maybe I didn't listen to either albums as closely as I should have done?. I like Who Are You the song though.The Stones easily get my vote in this matchup. Really not a fan of anything that The Who did in the 60's (very very little of it I'd play on purpose)
