Got two albums from this band, Who Are You and the one I got yesterday Who's Next. Really enjoying the latter. Songs like Baba O'Riley, My Wife, Bargain are really enjoyable tunes.

I may pick up Sell Out next at least knowing from various people that it was their experimental album. But over the last year or so I have gotten more diverse in what I like so I am open to different sounds. :)

The Piano work in The Song Is Over is fantastic music.

Who's Next is a special album! Their Dark Side of the Moon or Peppers IMO

I love the demo version of 'Love Ain't For Keeping', mainly because Leslie West plays a second guitar solo and sings on this track. :grinthumb

I hope you give Quadrophenia a listen and Tommy as well. When it comes to the Who I am a much bigger fan of their later work than their earliest records or their later ones. The middle years are the best.

I'd have to agree with MP about Who's Next, it's a straight ahead rock album(Unlike Tommy and Quadrophenia which were concept albums)and everyone should have a copy in their collection.

I really love the earliest Who recordings. I think I can see for Miles is my favorite song. I know that isn't THE earliest but... I also dig them all the way up until Keith Moon's death and a few select tunes after that.
Pete Townsend is one of the better song writers and has an energy in his playing that makes up for his lack of technical prowess. He also arranged a band around him that brought the full force of a power trio to light so that we didn't really miss extended guitar solos or virtuosity.

This is a rock band for fans not hung up on polish or trappings. It's easy to see why they are associated with punk because they bring the same kind of honest no holds barred rock and roll energy that is the saving grace of that genre.

Hat's off to The Who. I didn't appreciate them in their hey day but that was my loss.
