On a Misty Mountain overlooking Strawberry Fields.
For starters two guys immediately come to mind because they are so intense.

Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar
John Bonham on drums

Then I'd have Steven Tyler on vocals.

And on bass (does it really matter with those three?)
Geezer Butler on bass. I'd pick JPJ, but I already have Bonzo from the mighty Zep.

This band would kick your ear drums in IMO. They'd play heavy blues/rock.

Shit! I didn't see wet willy's band ^^ Very similar to mine. Good choices (don't like paul rogers, trower kicks major ass though). Didn't even see that post when I did mine. I'll have to do another band.

Billy Joel knows.
Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green, and David Gilmour on guitars.
Mick Fleetwood on drums.
John Entwistle on bass.
Duane Allman on slide guitar.
Jai Johanny Johanson on percussion and drums.
Keith Emerson on keyboards.
Lucia Micarelli on violin.
James Dewar on vocals and bass guitar.
Ann Wilson on vocals

The sound would be jam oriented Blues/Rock.
Lots of room for improvisation.

Mick Fleetwod plays the drums? I thought he sat on his butt looking like a orangutan. He has to be one of the weakest on-dimensional drummers ever. Sorry.

That's what makes him good. All that flashy crap... y'all can have that. I'll take the simple stuff, thanks. Though Mick wouldn't be one of my personal favorite in that vein, still great.

Two drummers and Kurt Cobain singing with Eminem, Thom Yorke, and an orchestra....now that sounds a bit sketchy. If this was one of those "One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is not the same" then I think Kurt would be the odd man out. I just can't picture him singing with a complete orchestra or melding well Em and Thom vocal wise.

It certainly is an impressive lineup though. :D

Vocals and piano - Freddie Mercury
Lead Guitar - Eric Clapton/Gary Moore/Brian May
Rhythm Guitar - Eddie Van Halen
Bass - Steve Harris
Drums - Mike Portnoy

Good lineup. Edward Van Halen and Brian May have played together in the past (on Brian's "Star Fleet Project" album) but I don't know if Eddie would be willing to take the backseat and play rhythm all the time. No doubt he's great at it but he certainly loves to solo too.
