^^^ I was quite blown away by Corey's voice when I first heard Stone Stour, I do think he's a great vocalist, something which I never noticed listening to Slipknot. He auditioned for Velvet Revolver last year and Duff McKagan said, "Whether he's in Velvet Revolver or not... I think he's the best voice of a new generation. The best rock 'n' voice out there." High praise indeed! I personally would like to have seen him become the vocalist for VR, but apparently Slash thought he didn't quite 'fit'.

Another creepy song for the thread - Typo O Negative covering Black Sabbath

Hey DKW and Sound, you were having a great discourse for the longest time on that topic

You're right there Soot, we were having a blast until my 'The Devil's Music' thread - which was supposed to just be a bit of harmless fun - suddenly got high jacked, and instead turned into a bad tempered list of 100 reasons why people think that Slipknot suck, then I kinda lost interest. So what can I tell ya...????

:heheh: The metal genre in general has to be the most fickle, scrutinized genre period! :D I prefer music taste that doesn't involve a need for music cred outside my own preference! :grinthumb

Metal fans can be pretty fickle especially when a band makes a slight change in direction.
Not saying anyone here does it as I don't but metal fans elsewhere can be pretty damn fickle and judgemental. But then that comes with every genre, every genre has fans that do that.

Metal , Hard Rock and Prog fans are by far the most loyal rock fan bases there are in the world. While just about every other genre group jump from artist to artist on the whim of the hit parade and what is hip and cool NOW, Metal fan bases constantly support bands that have never even gotten any radio play.

When a band deviates from their roots in large degree ie Metallica etc , that is another story altogether, but then only an idiot supports bands that stop playing music they like out of some twisted sense of loyalty

There are those fans that dump bands that get big but most the time those same bands have watered down and radioi-zed their music in order to make that transfer to a more mainstream sound and following. That's not being fickle, that is just staying loyal to the same more underground sounds that those fans were originally drawn to in the first place.

And by the way, I haven't personally met one real metal fan who EVER liked Slipnot. That's not saying there aren't any, I know alot of the more famous Metal musician tend to say they like them, but I haven't really met any...

If a band I like goes shit, Ill only support them for the music I liked. lol which is how I think people should be, don't ditch the good music because they put out bad stuff.

I still love early Metallica as do all the old time metalheads I know who originally got into them. Just because many of them say they think Metallica suck nowadays and they are sellouts etc. does not mean they don't like the old albums.....That applies to ...insert band name... so I'm not following you on that.

Well there are plenty of metal fans that actually do ditch a band completely even the good stuff because they are apparently sellouts or they just went shit. A lot of Metallica fans did that during the napster saga. Its fine to disagree, Im just stating what I have observed, I think there are fans who do stupidly ditch a band completely over stupid shit like that. And for the record my post above wasn't directed towards you lol

And as for Morbid Angel, another case of a ridiculously pathetic fanbase(not all but there are many).I hated the new album but to ditch them and write them off completely over one ****ing album? To not even go to see them live over one shit album? Come on. Thats just being pathetic. I will continue to see Morbid Angel live, I hated the new album but I don't hate them for doing the album, they were entitled to make it even if it wasn't to my liking.
Am I saying support them for the album? No. I am saying don't give up their good albums because of one bad apple.
