Soot and Stars
I AM SOOT!
Rachael Yamagata
I'm honestly on a female singer kick right now! One female artist that I think is severely underrated is Rachael Yamagata! Rachael is like if Norah Jones daily coffee actually worked and she developed the expressiveness and smoky throated soul of Janis Joplin! In fact, the biggest treasure I have of Rachaels is a rare live E.P. I got when purchasing her debut at Newbury Comics! Probably one the best extras I've ever got buying a c.d. to the point where it eclipsed her Debut itself! I've also had the pleasure of seeing her live with Ryan Adams! I'm just going to skip my usually fare and present some very moving examples of Rachael from her two albums Happenstance and Elephants...Teeth Sinking into Heart:
Sunday Afternoon (my personal favorite)
Sunday Afternoon Live
Letter Read Studio
Letter Read Live (fiercely Fiona-ish on this one)
Duet (Studio Version w/ the amazing Ray Lamontagne)
Be Be Your Love
Worn Me Down
(her very first single)
Worn Me Down Live
