The Most Creative Band?

^^I was thinking of them myself, I did post KC and didn't want to take all the great old prog bands myself.

I would grant Sepultura being the most influential Brazilian metal band of all time, but not the most in the genre.

Influential is another subjective term, what one person hears in a bands music another might interpret differently.

It is also fact that time and genre and commercial success are as much a part of being influential as any other factor.

They are just as influential as any American metal band such as Metallica Megadeth etc.

They did influence groove metal and a bit of nu metal (even though I hate that genre). Also they did have a bit of influence on death metal as well with their sound.

Sorry LG they are one of the most influential in all of metal.

The key word being "one of" Mud, I am not a fan of theirs myself, but I do realize they have had a huge impact being South America's first superstar metal band.

I do not have them rated with Sabbath or Priest and Maiden, that is my own personal viewpoint, and you obviously have yours.

Hmm....really? That bad that I've never even heard mention in the pantheons of metal? Pardon me for being a little bit skeptical of them being one of the most influential bands in metal.

Having listened to DINosaur Jr,and Sepultura on the youtube links that were kindly put up,i have came to the following conclusions.
1. My idea of what makes a band creative,is vastly different than what other folk here on this forum regard as being creative.
2. There's a good reason why i've never heard of Dinosaur Jr or Sepultura.
3. I'm starting to realise how someone could like Nirvana,and think they were creative and inspirational(it all depends on the quality of all the other music you listen to).
4. I still dont understand the term “Sabbath like riffs with country twang jangle pop punk”

I can't stand Sepultura myself, but they're definitely widely influential. They were one of the first on the groove metal tip and they brought a thrashier, more kvlt sensibility to it that holds up a lot better for a lot of people.

When you talk about bands that have influenced music over the years,The Beatles,Kinks,Led Zeppelin,Black Sabbath,Bob Dylan,Jimi Hendrix,Rolling Stones,The Who,ACDC,Ramones,Beach Boys,Johnny Cash,R.E.M,T.Rex,David Bowie,Deep Purple,Cream, These are all household names that most folk would see mentioned on a regular basis,as being other bands major influences. Fact is i have never,nor has anyone i know ever heard of Dinosaur Jr or Sepultura. Surely to be regarded as being a major influence on music(or as someone said the biggest influence om metal) there names would come up now and then!
Name me a group(a big name group,a household name),that would appeal to a wide section of people,that list Sepultura or Dinosaur Jr as being there biggest influence.
It's not that i think that my idea of what makes a band influential and creative is different from the people around here(or that i'm right). It's perhaps the calibre of the bands being mentioned as being an influence ,and the calibre of the bands they spawned.

It's perhaps the calibre of the bands being mentioned as being an influence ,and the calibre of the bands they spawned.

Or it could be gross exaggeration from the person making the claims in the first place.
